What Empowery was
Empowery was an eCommerce-focused cooperative, founded in the Minnesota cooperative-association spirit: independent internet sellers uniting for knowledge, suppliers, and scale while keeping ownership of their businesses. The bet was simple — people working together accomplish more than anyone can alone, without surrendering the independence that makes entrepreneurship worth it.
Amazon FBA and multi-channel brands were the core. Members shared playbooks over speed bumps, showed up at gatherings (Seattle Summit, Women’s Conferences, Festivus, and the conference circuit), and built a culture that was co-op, not guru theater.
What this site is now
The formal co-op era ran 2018–2022. Empowery.com is no longer a membership enrollment. It is a seller-support and legacy hub:
- Honor the community, events, and “Independent. Together.” ethos
- Direct ecommerce founders and marketplace sellers to living network resources
- Offer a light stay-in-touch path for people who still want seller-support orientation
We do not sell co-op membership, claim the co-op is open, or treat this domain as an active cooperative.
Who keeps the light on
This hub is operated by Steve Simonson / Empowery. Steve helped found the circle and still believes sellers deserve a peer bench, better systems, and a constructive voice — just not a closed-chapter membership pitch.
Where the work continues
Empowery pointed people toward each other. These living properties carry that spirit forward:
- Catalyst88 — founder coaching, mastermind, operator community
- Divinely Discontent — constructive seller voice with Amazon
- Parsimony — operator ERP / systems stack
- Parsimony Now — founder urgency and automation
- HumanityNow — AI tools with human support
- Awesomers — community / media brand
- Big Sky ROI — product investment research
